I have noticed that every now and then the topic concerning the public performance image of our Z's comes up. I would like to know what peoples experiences racing the Supra's, RX-7's, SS Camaro's, Corvette LT1's and normal C5's and also the Trans Am WS6's have been. Just to help out I pulled some performance info from the internet z club page along with the mags and dates that the test were done. They include "G"'s so that we can see the variance in this performance parameter as well. Either Motor Trend (MT), Car & Driver(C/D) or Road & Track I believe say that .02G is "Significant" (..Ohhhhkaay...). Hopefully it can be seen that the "numbers" and the perception can be all over the place. This was not all of the data available as there are numbers for the SMZ, NA, and JWTT on there as well. The 0-60 times do go up towards AS HIGH as 6.0 sec (Some Mag's have reported our TT 0-60 times to be as high as 6.5 sec!!) but those over 5.7sec for this parameter only equal 5 out of 15. Isn't it funny that the most quoted 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are those towards the high end of the spectrum and the standard Grip Level that's quoted averages around .87G -.88G? My point is that our stock performance parameters are considerably better than what has/is normally reported and pretty much there with current fast cars as well as the Supra TT and RX-7tt it would seem. BTW, SCI= Sports Car Illustrated and HR= Hot Rod Magazine.
